Meghan Shea
Hi! I am Meghan, a proud social worker and social-justice aligned clinician. I am a seasoned clinician, in practice for over 13 years, in a variety of different settings, elementary schools, pediatric practices, hospital clinics and university counseling centers. I graduated in 2010 with my Masters in Social Work (MSW) from New York University Silver School of Social Work.
I have worked with all types of clients from newborn infants with their mothers, to young children, teens and adults. I am originally from NY, grew up in the Hudson Valley area of NY, lived in NYC for 10 years and then moved to Rhode Island.
I moved to Rhode Island to be closer to the ocean, the beach, and the calmness, healing, and joy that comes with those ocean views, but frequently head back to NY for the bustle of the city, and the peaceful mountain life. I maintain licensure in both states and enjoy working with both New Yorkers and Rhode Islanders.
I speak Spanish fluently. When I am not working, I am at the beach, walking the famed Cliff Walk in Newport, RI and planning fun travel trips. I love to read, and love to weave books into our therapy work if you love to read too! I am a dog-lover too and look forward to trips to see my sister’s dachshund Stanley! I also love doing yoga and watching Law and Order SVU and Friends. I value providing a safer space for those who have experienced oppression and marginalization. I am committed to working on myself and learning and growing in order to do my part to dismantle racism and white supremacy.
